W6TRW Amateur Radio Association SWAPMEET

RULES AND REGULATIONS

General

The W6TRW Amateur Radio Association Swapmeet is held on the LAST Saturday of each month, regardless of weather or holidays, from 7:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Seller and buyer participation is a privilege - not a right. Your participation in this event is at the invitation of the W6TRW Amateur Radio Association.

The W6TRW ARA reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone. Persons who do not comply with the intent of these rules will not be allowed to participate and may be asked to leave the premises.

Seller Eligibility

1. All vendors must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a valid Amateur Radio license
  • Be a current Northrop Grumman (NG) Employee
  • Hold valid W6TRW ARA Club Membership

2. Vendors must provide proof of identity in the form of a photo ID (driver’s license preferred) and proof of licensing as an Amateur Radio Operator, or proof of NG employment.

Seller’s Permits

1. Prior to participating in the swap meet, each vendor must pay a fee to obtain a Seller’s Permit from the W6TRW ARA. Permits remain the property of the W6TRW ARA and must be surrendered upon demand.

2. Permits are issued for a 1 to 6 month period. Permits are renewable only before their expiration date.

3. A Seller’s Permit is issued to an individual (the permit holder) who meets eligibility requirements. The permit is valid only for the spaces indicated and only through the month and year indicated.

4. Seller’s Permits are not transferable and may not be loaned or resold. In order for anyone other than the permit holder to use a space, the permit holder for that space must be present. Exceptions to this rule will be made only for bona fide Amateur Radio Clubs whose current members may use the club’s spaces only for club-related purposes or for the sale of personal property (no business-related sales).

5. Vendors must prominently display their Seller’s Permits to gain entry to, and at all times within, the swapmeet lot. Original permits only. Xerox copies will not be accepted for any purpose.

Swap Meet Spaces

1. As available, vendors will be assigned specific reserved spaces within the swap meet lot. Vendors must set up items in their spaces (including vehicles, canopies, displays, and items for sale) such that vehicular access is always available to adjacent spaces and aisles. A "space" is defined as a marked parking stall and the area immediately adjacent to the "entrance" of that stall.

2. Spaces at the end of aisles and adjacent to other open areas are designated as "premium" spaces and provide additional room for vendor setup. Vendors will be charged a higher fee for using these spaces. Premium spaces are identified on the swap meet lot map and on the Seller’s Permit.

3. A maximum of two (2) spaces may be assigned to any single vendor on a space-available, first come-first served basis. The use of large vehicles may force a minimum assignment of 2 spaces. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Swapmeet Management.

4. A reserved space not occupied by its permit holder by 8:30 AM will be considered "forfeited" by that holder for that day. No refunds will be given on forfeited spaces for any reason. Forfeited spaces may be reassigned to another vendor for that day by the W6TRW ARA.

5. Vendors are responsible for keeping their spaces and the adjacent area clean and free of trash before leaving the swap meet. Penalties will be imposed on vendors who leave trash in or around their spaces.

Permitted and Prohibited Items

1. This is an Amateur Radio swap meet. Vendors may display and offer for sale only items that are radio, computer, and electronics related.

2. Vendors may not display or offer for sale any general merchandise, clothes, weapons, toys, food items, pirated, copied or X-rated software or video tapes.

3. The W6TRW Swapmeet Management shall have the final say as to the suitability of items for sale.

Miscellaneous

1. Swap meet participants are not allowed on NG property before 6:00 AM and must leave no later than 12:30 PM. Violators may be cited for trespassing.

2. Vendors may begin setup and sales in the seller’s lot at 7:00 AM and must cease all selling at 11:30.

3. The California State Franchise Tax Board requires all swapmeet vendors who sell more than 2 times in any 12 month period to obtain a resale permit. Vendors must provide the W6TRW ARA with documentation of their compliance. This documentation will be given to the Franchise Tax Board upon their request.

4. No Seller Permit fee refunds will be issued due to weather conditions or for any other reason.

5. NG and the W6TRW ARA disclaim all responsibility for the validity of any claims made by vendors regarding equipment age, origin, or condition; for prices set, or for any financial transactions entered into at this swap meet. It is suggested that buyers carefully inspect and check out equipment before purchasing. When checkout is not possible, the buyer should make arrangements with the seller for later communications to discuss any problems.
